INT: JORDAN'S BEDROOM - AFTERNOON
Jordan is at his computer. He is busy typing away at something. There is a knock at Jordan’s door.
JORDAN
Yeah?
Jordan’s mother opens the door and steps in. She looks worried.
JORDAN'S MOTHER
Jordan, you’ve been on that computer all day...
JORAN
Yeah I know, I'm chatting with DrAkieToy86
JORDAN'S MOTHER
What is an Akie Toy?
JORDAN
It’s a screen name, Mom.
JORDAN'S MOTHER
A what?
Jordan’s Mother gives him a funny look and shakes her head.
JORDAN'S MOTHER (CONT’D)
You kids these days spend too much time online. When I was growing up I had REAL friends that I could walk down the street and talk to.
JORDAN
Mom, it’s the--
JORDAN’S MOTHER
--Well it doesn’t matter to me what you do as long as you DON’T do your chores online.. like mowing the lawn. It’s looking like the Amazon.
Ext: JORDAN'S HOUSE - AFTERNOON - *Jungle music*
The grass can be seen extremely overgrown. Jordan looks at the grass like it is mesmerizing him, putting him into a trance.
INT. GARAGE
The garage is dark, as there are no windows and the lights are turned off.. suddenly the large garage door opens an Jordan’s silhouette can be seen with very bright day light. The silhouette of the lawn mower is also shown.
EXT: JORDAN'S HOUSE
The garage is in the background, Jordan attempts to start the lawn mower. It will not start for him. He messes with the levers and tries again. It still won’t start
JORDAN
You piece.. start you evil, vile, disgusting piece of sh..!!
He tries again, pulling the start cord as hard as he can. He falls over backwards. The lawn mower roars to life. Jordan looks up with a content expression on his face. Jordan gets up and begins mowing the grass.
When the bag becomes full he stops to change it, pushing the mower onto the driveway. Jordan takes the bag off the mower and he can be seen walking away with it behind the garage.
The mower begins to roll down the driveway onto the street. It stops at the curb.
JORDAN (O.S.) (CONT’D)
Ahhhhhhhh damn it!
INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY - MORNING *Rap music*
Jordan shown walking down a busy hallway. He looks nerdy, but the music makes him seem somewhat badass. The beat of the music matches his footsteps.
The music suddenly stops as Jordan is shoved into a janitor's closet by JOCK 1.
INT: CLOSET- DARK
Jordan can be heard struggling. The door opens a crack for a half a second when it is slammed shut again.
EXT: SCHOOL HALLWAY
JOCK 2 pulls a chair to the door and wedges it shut.
INT: ClOSET- DARK
The jocks can be heard laughing on the other side of the door. It sounds muffled.
JOCK 2
I’ll never get tired of that shit.
JOCK 1
He'll be in there for hours!
JOCK 2
Haha yeah, isn't that the same twit as last time?!
INT. CLOSET - DARK
The two Jocks laugh's continue but get quieter as they walk away and there is silence. Jordan can be heard struggling. Then silence.
JORDAN
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccck.
Jordan looks around the closet with the dim light of his cell phone.
INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY
People are walking quickly past the closet door, not paying any attention to it despite unnoticeable banging sounds. The bell rings to signal the start of class. The hallway is silent with a few doors being heard shut. As the hall clears the only one left in the hallway is Jade. Jade slowly walks towards the door. She is staring at it, motionless. She then turns her head and begins to walk down the hallway. She stops. Then looks back and walks back to the door and removes the chair. Jordan opens the door and cautiously steps out. Jade walks quickly away. By the time Jordan gets out of the closet she is already a few yards away still walking quickly.
JORDAN
Oh thank God! I thought I’d be locked in there all day!
Jordan jogs to catch up to Jade. He hasn’t seen her face yet and doesn’t realize it it's her.
JORDAN (CONT’D)
Hey hold on a second, I want to thank you!
Jade is still walking and doesn't look back. Jordan runs to catch up to her.
JORDAN (CONT’D)
Hold up. Thanks for helping me back there.
Jade stops abruptly and looks at him, expressionless. Her intense eyes stare into his. Jordan instantly recognizes her from earlier. He has a look of surprise.
JORDAN (CONT’D)
Oh my God! I just about ran over you yesterday! Hey I’m so sorry about that, I should have been paying more attention to the road. Parking around here is a bitch.
Jade just looks at him. She looks like she’s thinking about what he’s saying. She looks down the hall and starts to walk silently away. Jordan starts to walk with her.
JORDAN (CONT’D)
Thank you so much for opening the closet for me. I’ve been stuck in there before!
Jade looks at him and tries not to smile. It doesn’t work and lets a small smile slip. She regains control and becomes forced expressionless again.
JORDAN (CONT’D)
Haha yeah, well. I guess that is kinda a little funny. Well not really though, it kinda sucks.
Jade shrugs and then stops in front of a classroom door.
JORDAN (CONT’D)
So this is your class huh?
Jade gives him look like he should already know the answer to that but nods anyway. She makes a move to reach for the door handle.
JORDAN (CONT’D) (BLURTING OUT)
Do you think I could buy you lunch or something? Just to say thanks..
Jordan blushes, as he seems to realize what he just said. Jade’s eyes widen and she looks towards the door. She shakes her head and starts to open the door.
JORDAN (CONT’D)
Okay, or not. Thanks anyway for getting me out though.
Jade looks at him and gives him slight nod. She then opens the door and walks into her classroom. Jordan scratches his head. He looks at his watch and hurries down the hall.
